Het Ensemble STYX verkent graag ongekende paden.

Met een liefdevol oog voor het traditionele repertoire kiest dit ensemble vooral voor verrassende en gedurfde programma’s met speciale aandacht voor interdisciplinaire producties en hedendaagse muziek. Zoals Charon, de onsterfelijke veerman heen en weer reist tussen de materiële en de spirituele wereld, wil Styx een link zijn tussen het heden en de toekomst. Vertrekkend van het houtblaaskwintet als vaste kern, wordt het ensemble in functie van de productie uitgebreid tot een flexibel collectief.

Tel Charon sur sa barque, navetteur immortel entre le monde des vivants et celui des esprits, STYX se veut être le lien entre l’audience actuelle et celle de demain: surfer sur la vague des nouvelles technologies tout en préservant le répertoire cher à nos coeurs de musiciens en associant notre expérience cumulée au sein d’une nouvelle structure.

Autour d’un noyau fixe, gravitera un collectif permettant à l’ensemble d’interpréter des programmes à géométrie variable en faisant une place de choix à l’interdisciplinaire et au décloisonnement des genres des concerts de type dits “ classiques”.

A fixed core (woodwind quintet) around which gravitates a collective, allowing the ensemble to interpret programs with variable geometry by making a place of choice for the interdisciplinary and the decompartmentalization of the genres of so-called “classic” type concerts.
